Bicheng Han

Founder and CEO of BrainCo, the Harvard Innovation Labs-incubated non-invasive brain-computer interface company that became one of China's leading BCI players. Founded BrainCo in 2015 while pursuing his PhD at Harvard's Center for Brain Science.

Background

Bicheng Han is the founder and CEO of BrainCo, the non-invasive brain-computer interface company that has grown from a Harvard Innovation Labs incubated startup into one of China’s leading neurotechnology companies. He founded BrainCo in 2015 while pursuing his PhD at Harvard University’s Center for Brain Science. Han holds bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Management. He has been recognised by MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 and the World Economic Forum.

BrainCo

Under Han’s leadership, BrainCo has built a non-invasive BCI platform spanning consumer, educational, and medical applications. The company’s BrainRobotics intelligent bionic prosthetic hand received FDA certification on 7 November 2022. BrainCo has been named one of Hangzhou’s “Six Little Dragons” — the city’s most prized technology startups, a designation it shares with AI company Deepseek and robotics company Unitree.

In January 2026, BrainCo closed a $286 million (CNY 2 billion) financing round co-led by IDG Capital and Walden International (the investment firm founded by former Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan). The company confidentially filed for a Hong Kong IPO on 3 January 2026 with CICC and UBS as underwriters. Han led BrainCo to its first full-year profitability in 2025, primarily driven by consumer-focused products.

Strategic position

Han is one of the most prominent Chinese neurotechnology entrepreneurs and bridges the US (Harvard) and Chinese (Hangzhou) sides of the global BCI capital and talent flow. His vision for non-invasive BCI as a commercial platform (rather than purely clinical-stage research) has been the defining strategic frame for BrainCo’s product mix across BrainRobotics prosthetics, Focus education-and-attention headsets, and adjacent consumer wellness applications.
