BCI Integration

On 30 August 2023, ONWARD announced its first implant pairing its ARC-IM spinal cord stimulator with a wireless brain-computer interface, at CHUV Lausanne. Seven people had received ARC-BCI implants by H1 2026, and the platform is in the FDA Total Product Life Cycle Advisory Program. This combination of BCI decoding with targeted spinal stimulation represents a significant advance in closed-loop neurorehabilitation.

Products

The company’s ARC Therapy platform delivers targeted spinal cord stimulation to restore motor function. Its non-invasive ARC-EX system received FDA De Novo authorisation in December 2024 and generated EUR 3.4 million in revenue in H1 2026. The technology has shown results in enabling patients with complete spinal cord injury to stand, walk, and regain blood pressure regulation; a first ARC-IM implant for bladder function is guided for H2 2026.
