Phantom Neuro implants its prosthetic hand sensor in its first patients
Phantom Neuro announced on 20 October 2026 that the first participants in its CYBORG study in Melbourne have received Phantom X, a sensor placed under the skin of the forearm that reads muscle signals and relays them wirelessly to control a prosthetic hand. Two people have been implanted so far, at Cabrini Health, in procedures of about an hour without general anaesthetic. The study can enrol up to 10 people, and Phantom Neuro plans to use the results to support a US FDA application.
