Stanford launches a five-year project to build a digital twin of the human brain
Stanford's Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute announced the Stanford Digital Brain Project on 2 November 2026, funded by Mark and Mary Stevens and Clara Wu Tsai, to train AI models that predict human brain activity from 7-tesla MRI and wearable MEG scans and release the data and models openly. A Meta-funded project of the same name, coordinated in Paris, scaled to $15 million in July.
