Rush completes third intracortical visual prosthesis implant as cortical vision restoration becomes a four-platform field
Illinois Institute of Technology and Rush University Medical Center completed the third implantation of the Intracortical Visual Prosthesis on 7 May 2026, a 34-stimulator, 544-electrode wireless system bypassing the eye and optic nerve to deliver artificial sight directly to the visual cortex.
