Darius Shahida
President and Chief Strategy Officer of Science Corporation, appointed President in September 2026 to build the commercial organisation behind the European rollout of the PRIMA retinal implant.
Background
Darius Shahida spent eight years helping lead Butterfly Network, the handheld ultrasound company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He first invested in Science Corporation as a participant in its Series B round, then joined full-time as Chief Strategy Officer in January 2026.
Role at Science
On 17 September 2026 Science named him President, a dual role he holds alongside his strategy brief, reporting to chief executive Max Hodak. His remit is the commercial organisation and operating infrastructure needed to turn the company’s research into shipped product. Hodak said Shahida “can and will be a force multiplier” as Science enters what he called “a new commercial era”.
The appointment came two months into the European launch of PRIMA, Science’s photovoltaic implant for geographic atrophy in age-related macular degeneration, which received its CE mark in July 2026 and is pending FDA approval in the United States. Science had closed a $230 million Series C in March 2026.
Why it matters
Shahida is the second senior Butterfly Network alumnus Science hired in 2026, after Butterfly co-founder Nevada Sanchez joined as EVP Engineering in July. The pairing points to a company preparing for a multi-country device rollout. Science has not disclosed PRIMA pricing, implant volumes, reimbursement terms or revenue, and those are the measures by which his tenure will be judged.
